One. Year. Ago.
On this date last year, I posted on my brand new blog for the first time. I had so enjoyed reading and learning from so many, many of you, that I yearned to join your community. I continue to learn and marvel from all of your creativity, joy of life, your wonderful experiences, etc., etc. Thank you a million times for accepting me as one of your friends and allowing me to copy, plagiarize, and duplicate many of your masterpieces!
So many friendships have been created, though I have personally not met any of you. Thank you for your inspiring words, encouragement, and sweet comments that you provide.
A special thank you to Donna, The Rust Goddess. We started blogging about the same time and she continues to be a great friend and inspiration. Please visit her here if you haven't done so already. She and I were each others first followers! There are many more of you who have been so helpful and kind, and for that I thank you a million times!
So, for an anniversary post, please enjoy the 'spring awakening' taking place right now in my front yard!
For a number of years, I've been planting my amaryllis bulbs that were forced for Christmas in the front bed. Sadly, they've not been seen until....

Today!!!
I didn't even see it coming! I believe this is the Christmas Gift - all white and just exquisite when you force it inside. I can't wait!
You can see more current pictures here on my FB page!

But that's not all!!!
A SECOND amaryllis I planted has also appeared; this one, I think, will be a beautiful coral color! (I had forgotten about that one!)
But that's not all!!
The first agapanthus bud! The reason these are popping out so early is because of all the rain we have had lately. Now, you can water and water and water them all you want, but it takes God's good rain to really make them bloom! I have these in sinful quantities and they sorely need to be divided, but they are now so unwieldy that they need a backhoe! What to do?
But wait....here come the knock out roses! I hacked them down to the ground in, maybe, December, and here they come!!!
Also, these irises...they are deep purple. My mom's one street over are going crazy!
And last but not least....a few day lilies are pushing up scapes and the Easter lilies are waiting in the wings!
So, spring/summer has come to south Louisiana!
Enjoy, y'all!
Seasonal Sundays
Congratulations on your blogversary! I have quite a ways to go for the first one. You have some stunning flowers there and I'm happy to see them since it's too early up here.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend.
I am so glad we share our blog anniversaries in the same week. I treasure your friendship and have always envied your photographic skills. (I still want that coffee table book - signed by the author - I already have your title ready - Barns and Blossoms!) It is amazing what was annoyingly bare last week is now bursting forth with new life. Congratulations, Nancy. Here's a toast to you.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your one year anniversary Nancy. The amaryllis bloomed at the perfect time for this occasion. Donna and I are becoming fast friends too. xo, Olive

Congratulations on your one year anniversary! I wondered how you could possibly have amaryllis blooming in the garden now until I saw you lived in Louisiana. That explains it! I have to go through this long process of bringing mine inside in early fall, putting them in a dark closet to go dormant and bring out to start again after 6 weeks. I'm so glad yours are blooming for you. They are beauties. I've also looked back at your Christmas pictures and got in the Christmas spirit again! I have enjoyed my visit very much.

Nancy, congratulations on your first year! Your flowers look happy. We finally got some much needed rain last week....3 inches. You are so right about the difference in makes when it's rain rather than tap water watering our gardens. I need to go check and see if I have any amaryllis in bloom. I also plant them outside each season after Christmas.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your first year of blogging and to many many more. fondly ~lynne~
