To those of you who have graciously followed this little blog, I thank you.
The Headmaster is having serious health issues, in the forms of Parkinson's and Lewy Body Dementia (that's the really evil one).
This will be my final post. Thank you again for following me and for your very sweet comments. I must also say how very MUCH I have learned from all of you in so many, many areas. Additionally, I have made friends whom I've never met in person, and I treasure those relationships.
If possible, when you pray, you would say a prayer for Dave and for all of those with this awful affliction. While it is not Alzheimer's, it is truly, truly sad and horribly debilitating. We do not know at this point what the future holds. If there are any of you have have any experience with LBD and would like to share with me, I would be forever grateful.
Again, thank you for your thoughtfulness.
Nancy, you and Dave have all my thoughts and prayers tonight. I hope God grants you both strength and grace as you face this together. I have so enjoyed our blog friendship and hope to continue on FB. I will miss your photography. Peace be with you.
ReplyDeleteNancy, I am so sorry. I have added you and Dave to my prayer list. You will be missed in blogland, Nancy.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Beth
Oh, Nancy, I am so so sorry. God bless you and Dave as you weather this health crisis. My own father had Parkinson's and that was bad enough in and of itself. I don't know a lot about LBD but I do know that it is usually a rapidly progressing disease that can be slowed if caught early enough and it is often associated with Parkinson's. There are a lot of meds they can try for it-but some of them have pretty bad side effects with hallucinations, etc.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you, Nancy. You must be beside yourself. Are you coming back up here this summer? If so, let me know and we will try to get together for a cup of coffee and chat at Telazzo's. xo Diana
The medicines they have for Alzheimers are being found to not be all that effective. Nothing really stops it. With the LBD, I really don't know what they have for that, since that is not the dementia I deal with with my husband.
DeleteDon't know if anybody will see these comments, I'm so late......
I hear you, Mim. There ARE no meds for LBD; just meds that 'help' treat the symptoms. Maybe one day, one day.................
DeletePraying for grace and strength for you two.
ReplyDeleteThoughts and prayers are with you both during this difficult time.
ReplyDeleteNancy's so sorry to hear this news. May you have the strength and grace to weather this storm. All the best to you and Dave. ;)
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear this news, Nancy! Please know that I will place Dave's name in our list of daily intentions at St. Paul's Episcopal School in Lakeview. I hope to hear from you time and time again on facebook. xo
ReplyDeleteNancy, I'm truly sad to read this news. My heart goes out to you and Dave as you face this journey. You are definitely in my thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteNancy, I somehow lost track of your blog in my reading list, and you came to mind today when I shared your restored christening gown story with a reader. I decided I needed to "track you down"—and here I find your news from almost a year ago... I am so sorry to learn of Dave's health issues and can only imagine the toll they take on you as well. Know that NOW I am praying for both of you. If there is anything specific for which I can pray, don't hesitate to email me.
ReplyDeletei've been trying to catch up & just read this. I'm so, so sorry to learn of the Parkinson's and the LBD. I don't have the Parkinson's to deal with, but my husband is about late mid stage of Alzheimer's Disease, the most common form of dementia. It's a rough road, there is NO doubt about it. I'm having a hard time praying - my mind is so overwhelmed & preoccupied, but when I do, I ask God right now to bring you & Dave to my mind in order that I might lift you up.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to see this - it's a year late!
,
Thank you so much, Mim. This is truly a rough journey for all caregivers; please accept my thanks for your post, and I will, in turn pray to you and your husband as well. God bless!

Nancy, I'm signed in on a different email but this is Nancy from Nancy's Daily Dish who left the comment above. I don't think it links back to me, which isn't important...just wanted you to know which Nancy it was commenting.
