To those of you who have graciously followed this little blog, I thank you.

The Headmaster is having serious health issues, in the forms of Parkinson's and Lewy Body Dementia (that's the really evil one).

This will be my final post.  Thank you again for following me and for your very sweet comments.  I must also say how very MUCH I have learned from all of you in so many, many areas.  Additionally, I have made friends whom I've never met in person, and I treasure those relationships.

If possible, when you pray, you would say a prayer for Dave and for all of those with this awful affliction.  While it is not Alzheimer's, it is truly, truly sad and horribly debilitating.  We do not know at this point what the future holds.  If there are any of you have have any experience with LBD and would like to share with me, I would be forever grateful.

Again, thank you for your thoughtfulness.

  3. Oh, Nancy, I am so so sorry. God bless you and Dave as you weather this health crisis. My own father had Parkinson's and that was bad enough in and of itself. I don't know a lot about LBD but I do know that it is usually a rapidly progressing disease that can be slowed if caught early enough and it is often associated with Parkinson's. There are a lot of meds they can try for it-but some of them have pretty bad side effects with hallucinations, etc.
God bless you, Nancy. You must be beside yourself. Are you coming back up here this summer? If so, let me know and we will try to get together for a cup of coffee and chat at Telazzo's. xo Diana

    1. The medicines they have for Alzheimers are being found to not be all that effective. Nothing really stops it. With the LBD, I really don't know what they have for that, since that is not the dementia I deal with with my husband.
Don't know if anybody will see these comments, I'm so late......

    2. I hear you, Mim. There ARE no meds for LBD; just meds that 'help' treat the symptoms. Maybe one day, one day.................

  9. Nancy, I somehow lost track of your blog in my reading list, and you came to mind today when I shared your restored christening gown story with a reader. I decided I needed to "track you down"—and here I find your news from almost a year ago... I am so sorry to learn of Dave's health issues and can only imagine the toll they take on you as well. Know that NOW I am praying for both of you. If there is anything specific for which I can pray, don't hesitate to email me.

  10. i've been trying to catch up & just read this. I'm so, so sorry to learn of the Parkinson's and the LBD. I don't have the Parkinson's to deal with, but my husband is about late mid stage of Alzheimer's Disease, the most common form of dementia. It's a rough road, there is NO doubt about it. I'm having a hard time praying - my mind is so overwhelmed & preoccupied, but when I do, I ask God right now to bring you & Dave to my mind in order that I might lift you up.

I hope you get to see this - it's a year late!
