Quilted Barns

Miss Lady wondered what in the world I was doing in her domain!

I LOVE BARNS!

Some several years ago, our county received a grant to partner 4-H students with barn owners in our area.  The idea was that the students would create vintage quilt squares of a particular size and affix them to barns in the area with an 'historical significance.'  These barns and their quilt squares are sprinkled throughout our county as well as neighboring ones.  I thought I would share some of these with you, as I know that some of you are avid quilters.  I have made a few quilts in my day, but my expertise is very limited.  This link will give you a little more background and provide a few pictures of the squares being installed.   I hope you enjoy these beauties!

  4. Hi Nancy! Oh, I too love to see these olden barns and the quilts painted on are just so bright and beautiful. I have a friend in Alabama and her husband just hung one of these on their barn. I thought it was a wonderful idea.
Thank you so much for popping in to see me.

  14. I adore barns and your post is such a wonderful example of partnering with schools. I am also in education serving as a psychometrist for one of the local public school districts on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. What a great idea to partner with local barn owners and the 4-H! Visiting from A Favorite Thing Saturday and am your newest follower. Hope you have time to stop by Still Woods Farmhouse for a visit!
