On a beautiful morning in northeast Wisconsin, I decided to set a table under our very old and very large apple tree.
Here at our Wisconsin house/cottage, I have very little in the way of good china, but this set that I do have, with its rich jewel-tone colors, simply screams fall to me!
I took the really cheap and ugly old round table from the deck, hauled it out to the side yard, and covered it with a drop cloth. Apples were literally falling all around me as I set up the table! Instant table decor!
Aside from the colors, one reason I like this china is the ability to go monochromatic...
...or mix the colors (which is what I prefer)!
The runner has all the colors of the china (a happy coincidence)!
The centerpiece is a bunch of in-the-process-of-drying hydrangeas that I managed to save (there were lots of blossoms this year, but so little rain). The colors are so pretty, even as they dry.
You are welcome to come by and sit under the apple tree; we'd love to have you!

Just beautiful! Your table just looks so inviting and festive!
ReplyDeleteI love how you mixed the colors of the dishes at each setting. So pretty and certainly works well for fall. The falling apples were just a way to say it was all meant to be. So very pretty. xo marlis
ReplyDeleteWhat's that song... Don't sit under the apple tree with anyone else but me.... :-) Songs pop in my head all the time and that one did as I read your cute post! I like your mix of stemware- all the colors just stand there like jewels! How appropriate that the apples fell and joined your party!

ReplyDeleteThis is a charming table! I love the mix of colors and the glasses are awesome. Fun table and watch out for those apples!
ReplyDeleteYour table is wonderful! I love those dishes. Winterthur is on my list of places to see soon! We lost 2 of our 3 apple trees last October in the early blizzard, and the one remaining doesn't seem to have any apples this year! And our hydrangeas all fried in the heat so I have none to dry. I do have tons of basil, though. I think it likes the dry heat. Your table is so inviting! Linda
ReplyDeleteYour setting is gorgeous! The apple tree is just perfect. Thank you for sharing. Visiting from Kristen's Creations. What a pretty setting! And how perfect are the apples falling all around? I love the mix of colors in the dinnerware; and the drop cloth adds such great texture. This is just lovely!
ReplyDeleteSo charming, and so inviting. I love the mix of china colors, and what a wonderful element the falling apples add. The different colors of stemware are such a striking addition. I love hydrangeas, so in my opinion, you can't go wrong with such a pretty flower, fresh, drying, or dried. Well done. laurie
ReplyDeleteYour table makes my heart happy. I'd love to dine with you.

I hope you enjoyed your trip! The Winterthur here is an estate in somewhere in the northeast US. Some of its furnishings are/were duplicated and sold from their catalog. I've had these for years!
