Rainbows...An Anomaly?

A definition:
a·nom·a·ly  (-nm-l)
n. pl. a·nom·a·lies
1. Deviation or departure from the normal or common order, form, or rule.

Storm clouds gather over the garage...will we have rain?  Can you have a rainbow without rain?  Isn't that an anomaly?

As many know, we have had precious, precious little rain in northeast Wisconsin lately.  I have not blogged at all for the last month as I have been watering constantly trying to keep everything alive (as much as I could).  We have had some claps of thunder and some lightning strikes (enough to keep Assistant #1 in a panic mode), and some rain, but not the good 'frog choker' as we call it in the south!

But today, as we waited for yet another 'promised' soaker (that we didn't receive, by the way), we were treated to God's water painting in the skies to the east of us.  Hope you will enjoy these photos!  While we are still hoping for that big rain to come, observing the events of this early evening reminds us of just WHO is in charge.  And for that, I am grateful and full of praise!

Can you see the double rainbow?

Up and over the chicken coop!

I hope that all of you are having a good week, and that those of you who are dry are getting some relief!  Summer has surely been an 'even't this year, hasn't it?

  1. Hi Nancy. I feel your drought ! I'm in Texas, where we lived through two years of the worst level of drought. Now that we've had a rain, it's a bit less severe, but our farmers are still struggling. I'm sorry that you are, too. As long as there is moisture in the air you can have a rainbow. I looked it up on wikipedia and learned some things I didn't know...cool facts ! Check it out ! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow

I have also seen a completely round rainbow around the sun as well as an upside down rainbow, which I understand is rare. They are GREAT anomalies in our world !

    1. Thanks, Tammy! I just might do that, if for no other reason than to remind me that we DID have rain at least once or twice this summer!!

  3. Wonderful photography! I also love the chicken coop. We have been having thunder, lightening and ominous clouds, but no decent rain. It poured down this afternoon for about five minutes so it just ran off.

  4. Hi Nancy! What a beautiful rainbow! I haven't seen one in a long time! We have been blessed to have had rain but it's so hot and humid here! :)
Thanks so much for popping in to see me.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)
